CFBloggy 1.0.004 is released

I just posted version 1.0.004 to RIAForge. I updated alot of stuff, I added the subscribe and remember me. I also add support for mssql, and mysql. The application.cfm file got alot of updates, moved from variables to application scopes. I didn't mess with any layout stuff. I fixed alot of little bugs, like if when adding a new comment the comment count wouldn't update, well it does now.

I won't go through everything cause my head hurt, but like always if you find any bugs please email them to me.

Any chance we can have some screen shots or a demo login?

Great job John. I tried to install CFBloggy for MS SQL Server and running the script gives me an error : 'sys.objects does not exist' or something. By 'sys.objects' did you mean 'sysobjects' ?

Just sent another file with the sys.objects removed. Let me know if it works.

John, I sent you a new script with correct MS SQL Server notation.

Cool, thanks. I'll get the package updated.

What version of SQl are you using?
John Ramon - Friday, August 17, 2007
It's standard Transact-SQL which means it works with all versions of MS SQL Server & probably Sybase as well.

Bug Fix- MsAccess was missing the cSubscribe column in the comments table. Without it u get: "Error Executing Database Query" line 63 in blog.cfc. "where co.cbid = #arguments.cid#" When trying to ad comment.

Was using Access to test offline - using MySQL now but passing this along for others who may be using Access.

I see the Jedi master's influence, but must say I really like your admin section's layout & functionality. Nice blog.

in admin site datasource is hard coded to 'cfbloggy' and needs to obtain the session variable.

John...

Just downloaded the package, I'm very excited about using this on my new site... Do you have a script yet for MySql yet? I can make the current one work if I have to but if someone has a tested one that would be better :)

Thanks

I know this has been brought up before on other blog implementations, but what about using CFINVOKE instead of CFOBJECT. I know object is shorter, but some web hosts (like mine) block CFOBJECT. :-\

Nice job by the way, very clean and elegant blog application.

Running this on mySQL and CF7, it's unbelievably slow. There's very little data in the database yet.

Anyone else seeing this?

I add MySQL support for CF8 I never tested on on 7. It runs fast with CF8 and MySQL. I don't have a CF7 and MySQL test box to test it out. Try running on Access as a test and see if it's still slow.

@Brad I will be moving to CFINVOKE in the next major release, since most hosting companies are removing CFOBJECT support.

no Access here! We're a Linux / Mac shop, and only use Windows in VMs for testing :)

It's not too bad once we get it on our test server - we're still on CF7, as there seem to be some .. issues with CF8 on Linux.

Just a comment for the poor performance comment, 1.0.004 seems to perform fine for me on godaddy which is MX7 and MySQL 5 under Linux.

Thanks for the feedback Brad.

The MySql script worked great, I did notice that I can URL directly into Admin/index.cfm and it's not checking for authentication. I just downloaded the latest version on RIAforge, did I miss something??

I can easily fix it, but if you have a later update I'll grab that.

The header in index.cfm shows:

Thanks

My Bad...

I figured it out.. Good Stuff John....

Was it the folder Paul?
John Ramon - Saturday, October 06, 2007
Yeah, took me a bit to figure it out. I'm working on a new site and I'm tinkering with the idea of using a blog enginer to put up news items and blogs stuff but not allow comments. Rays's is great but it does too much, I just wanted something very simple. Still tinkering, but under MYSQL this runs great with CF8 :)
